Air tightness is the control of airflow in a building. Condensation, mould growth and long term structural damage occur when a building is not airtight. The benefits of an airtight building are, lower heating costs, fewer CO2 emissions and increased sound insulation.
A perfect airtight seal can be achieved using breather membranes, vapour barriers tapes and accessories from the SIGA Airtight System available from Eco Build.
Note: Air tightness requirements are now a compulsory part of the Building Regulations where a “Blower Door” test is required for new buildings.
