The recent changes to the Building Regulations included a section which will be new to many in the construction industry, "Air-Tightness". This section, in simple terms, covers the assessment of how draughty a building is and gives a value for levels of air-tightness which are deemed to be acceptable.
The changes in the Building Regulations are designed to improve the energy efficiency of homes by improving the standards of insulation and through the use of renewable energy technology. Air-tightness plays a part in energy efficiency by eliminating sources of uncontrolled ventilation or draughts and by providing a measurable value which can be easily tested on-site by the use of a "blower door" kit.
To address the need for quality products and the knowledge to use them Eco Build has teamed up with Siga, the Swiss manufacturer of air-tightness membranes and tapes to offer their high quality product plus workshops to construction professionals on the concepts of air-tightness plus the correct use of membranes and tapes.
